“Mr. Edwards” turned to JALA when a debt buyer began garnishing his wages based on an old credit debt. Edwards had gotten a good job and was putting his life back together after he’d been incarcerated, but with his wages being garnished he was at risk of not being able to afford housing and food or pay other bills.
While Mr. Edwards was incarcerated, a creditor had obtained a questionable judgment against him. JALA assisted him with representation to vacate and render void the questionable judgment. And through negotiations with the debt buyer, JALA found a mutually-agreeable solution to considerably reduce the principal balance of the debt by 75 percent and avoid any further garnishment.
Mr. Edwards has now satisfied and eliminated the judgment debt and is free from further financial instability caused by the debt.
