“Alice,” who had been renting an apartment in Jacksonville, learned she had a chance to enroll in a clinical trial in Orlando that might lead to improvement in her symptoms related to a disability.
To accomplish the move she needed to terminate her lease early, but her landlord was not cooperating. Once JALA’s Fair Housing Unit requested a reasonable accommodation on Alice’s behalf, she was able to terminate her lease without fee or penalty. This enabled her to relocate to Orlando, where she can attend to her medical needs.
