When “Arthur” had his wages garnished by a creditor who’d wrongfully gotten a default judgment against him, he turned to JALA for help. In 2014, the creditor misrepresented to a court that it had obtained service of process on Arthur. This led to the entry of a default judgment against him, even though the debt in question was beyond the statute of limitations. JALA helped Arthur get the judgment vacated and the case against him dismissed. Arthur’s withheld funds were returned to him in full, and he is now free of an old debt the creditor no longer had the right to collect.
