Welcome to JALA’s Reduced Fee Legal Services
In an effort to close the justice gap, JALA continues to seek ways to offer legal services to the community. In 2018, JALA launched a new initiative to provide reduced fee legal services to individuals who need assistance with family law and immigration matters. JALA’s project targets individuals slightly above the poverty guidelines – but below the income where attorneys can traditionally be hired – by arranging legal assistance at a reduced fee. JALA has found that a large number of individuals choose to represent themselves. Although some cases are simple enough to not require an attorney, the simple fact is that legal representation is not always affordable for a significant majority of litigants, and JALA hopes to that change that reality.
